What began as a Nerf Raider is slowly morphing into the M-92 Mantis sniper rifle from Mass Effect. This was originally a commission for someone in the Mass Effect costuming community I'm in but I love this gun so much that I am making one for myself as well. I'm also working on a third one to sell.
You want to know the best part??? It still fires foam darts! You heard that correctly! A completely modified Nerf gun that can still shoot the darts. I paid special attention to all the moving parts and made sure they would permit the gun to fully function. When I finally finish the paint job, I will take a video of me firing it.
I'm getting better and better the more I do this. I am no master compared to the people who use power tools and fancy equipment to make theirs but for what I'm doing... and the supplies I'm using... I like to think I'm evolutionary.
I spent a good three hours staring at all the different Nerf guns before settling on the Raider. I agree that it looks better than any other Nerf for the Mantis but the main reason I chose it was because it allowed me to keep the functioning pieces in place to allow it to still work.
